It’s a paved ramp set into a gravel lot on a hillside above the river, right below the EWEB plant that treats Springfield’s drinking water, and it exists to do one job well: get trailered boats in and out of the McKenzie efficiently. It’s the standard take-out for anglers and guides who put in upriver at Hendrick’s Bridge, and the standard put-in for the float down to Armitage Park.
There’s no shade, no picnic table, and no reason to stay once your boat’s on the trailer — which is exactly how the people who use it regularly seem to like it.

From central Springfield, head toward Hayden Bridge Road/Marcola Road on the north side of town verify; the access road drops down a hillside from a circular gravel parking area to the ramp itself.
