Deerhorn County Park sits right at the small unincorporated community of Deerhorn — a place that had its own post office and school back in the early 1900s and has stayed a quiet river-bend hamlet ever since. The park itself is more full-featured than most landings on this stretch: alongside the boat launch there’s a swing set, a basketball hoop, picnic tables and a grill, and a walking path, which makes it a real family stop rather than a strictly working access point.
Oregon Fish & Wildlife lists a half-mile of bank access here in addition to the launch, so it’s a solid option whether you’re putting in a boat or just wading the gravel with a rod.

From Highway 126 east of Springfield, follow signs toward Deerhorn — access is described via Holden Creek Road off the highway verify. A GPS pin is the more reliable way in on a first visit.

This is flat, wide, gravel-bed river through here — no rated rapids — but the current is still real and cold, especially with snowmelt in the system through early summer. Keep an eye on kids and swimmers near the launch, where the bank drops off faster than it looks.
As with the rest of the lower river, watch for downed trees and sweepers after winter storms, and check current conditions before launching if you haven’t been out recently.
